Day One:
Pick up from accommodation from 7.00am. Head west over the Great Dividing Range via the Palmer River, site of one of Australia's greatest goldrushes, to "Quinkan Country" near Laura, an outback landscape of termite mounds and cattle stations.

Here we climb the sandstone escarpment (reasonable fitness required) at Split Rock to view ancient Aboriginal rock art, dated in excess of 13,000 years old, depicting traditional activities and culture. After lunch we travel on to our accommodation in historic "Cook's Town", as it was originally named with a choice of accommodation. Motel (private facilities) or Guesthouse (share facilities). Dinner is included today.

Day Two:
This morning, walk where Captain Cook once walked, touch the sand where "Endeavour" was beached, photograph Grassy Hill's spectacular scenery and visit the James Cook Museum where you can ponder Cooktown's pioneer history. Heading south, we visit eerie Black Mountain and the Lion's Den, a quaint outback pub, before crossing the Bloomfield River.

Now the controversial Bloomfield Track (weather permitting) takes us to the World Heritage rainforest of Cape Tribulation and Daintree National Park. We'll walk in the rainforest to see the wondrous and unique plants of this primeval jungle, the oldest rainforest on Earth.

A cable ferry across the Daintree River and a drive to Cairns brings to an end your safari of adventure, discovery ... and fun! Return to accommodation at approximately 6.00pm. Breakfast and lunch is included today.
