Cape York a true frontier with stories of tragic explorers, epic cattle drives, gold fever, fortress telegraph stations, and Aboriginal rock art of world renown. Experience its colourful past and its unique wilderness in the comfort of an accommodated safari. Diverse landscapes, 4WD adventure, surprises and lasting memories await. Day 1. Over the great Dividing Range into "Quinkan Country" to view ancient Aboriginal rock art. Lunch at an outback pub then north through cattle country to Musgrave, a century old Telegraph Station, and Lotus Bird Lodge for our overnight retreat. Lunch and dinner is included today. Day 2. A leisurely morning at the Lodge and "The Nine Mile" waterlily covered lagoon. Over 200 bird species visit the lagoon during the year making it a nature and bird-lover's paradise. Lunch at the Lodge then off to the old gold mining town of Coen to overnight at its Homestead Guesthouse. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner is included. Day 3. On to the picturesque Archer River and then lunch at the Wenlock River, site of Moreton Telegraph Station. A relaxed afternoon exploring, bushwalking, birdwatching or swimming. A short drive to Bramwell Cattle Station, our overnight stop. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included today. |

Day 4. 4WD adventure today on the century old Telegraph Track through Cape York's unique wilderness of gigantic termite mounds, crystal clear creeks, carnivorous pitcher plants and prehistoric cycads. Lunch at the picturesque Fruit Bat Falls, a great chance to bushwalk and swim. Across the mighty Jardine River to Bamaga and on to Pajinka Wilderness Lodge on the tropical shores of Torres Strait. Now, and emotional sunset walk to the very top of Australia &endash; CAPE YORK! Today breakfast, lunch and dinner is included. Day 5. Visit historic Somerset where you can journey into the past with our explorers, pioneers and Cape York's original inhabitants. Today's itinerary includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overnight accommodation is at Pajinka Wilderness Lodge. Day 6. Cruise to Thursday Island (optional), go fishing or simply relax on tropical Frangipani Beach with a good book. Breakfast and dinner is included in today's itinerary. Overnight accommodation is at Pajinka Wilderness Lodge. Day 7. The end . all too soon, but you shall have lasting memories as you fly over the Great Barrier Reef to Cairns at the end of your incredible adventure. This tour terminates at Cairns airport.
